Winford C. "Buster" Drake, 84, of
1081 Ells Road,passed away Wednesday (July 19, 2006) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, February 5, 1922, the sonof Guy and Mildred Marlatt Drake, he had resided in the Canisteo area all his life. He had served in the US Navy from1942-1944, and was the owner and operator of Drake'sDisposal Service until 1997 when his son Vaughn took over the ownership. Buster was able to continue work until he was81 years old. He was the oldest memberof the Hornell-Canisteo Chapter of Alcohols Anonmyous, and proudly observedover 42 years of sobriety. Buster will be remembered for his work in thechapter, and his willingness to help any chapter member at any time. He hasbeen the caretaker for the Pullman Estate in Hartsville for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Adele Drake in 1997, hisson LeRoy Drake and his daughter, Maxine Gleason aswell as his brother LaVerne Drake and sisters, IreneReid and Dorothy Lewis.
He is survived by one daughter: Judy Drake of Hornell, three sons: Gary (Dona) Drake of Hornell, Vaughn (Kathie) Drake of Canisteo, Rick (Sandy) Drake of Canisteo, one sister: Joyce Hallett of Rochester andone brother Larry (Flora) Drake ofHornell, 19 Grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9PM Sunday at the Brown & PowersFuneral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo where funeral services will be held onMonday at 11:00 AM with Rev. DudleyJenkins officiating. Burial willbe in Bennetts Creek Cemetery,Canisteo.
