Willis "Burr" Woodruff, 82,of
57West Main Street, passed away early FridayMorning (October 1, 2004) at his home.
Born in Alfred Station October 14, 1921, the sonof Charles E. and Agnes Muszynski Woodruff,he was a graduate of the former Alfred HighSchool as well as the Alfred Ag Tech. He resided his early life in Alfred Stationand in Canisteo since 1990. He servedhis country proudly in the US Army from 1942 -1945, as a member of the 88thInfantry Division, 313th Combat Battalion. He served in North Africa and Italy .Following is discharge, he was employedby Agway Corporation until his retirement in 1979.
Burr was a member since 1980, of the Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Church where he was a trustee and had served onseveral church committees. He was also amember of University Lodge # 944, F & AM of Alfred, the Alfred AmericanLegion and the Alfred Rod & Gun Club.Burr enjoyed hunting , fishing and especially playing cards.
He is survived by hiswife, Louise Austin Woodruff whom he married in 1946

A private family funeral service was held at the Brown& Powers Funeral Home,
6 Spruce St., Canisteo with the Rev. Kenneth Chroniger officiating.Burial followed in Alfred Rural Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held at atime to be announced at the Alfred Station Seventh Day Baptist Church.
