William G. Zschoche
William G. Zschoche, 93, of 4560 Nine Mile Point Road, (formerly of Hornell) passed away peacefully Thursday (December 6, 2012) at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hornell, March 5, 1919, the son of Otto G. and Caroline Zschoche, Bill lived in Hornell with his family for many years. He moved to Winchester, VA in 1978 with his wife, Lavonne, and remained there until their move to Fairport in 2006 to be closer to family.
Bill had worked at Hornell Woodworking, Precision Ware in Brooklyn, and Wood Specialty in Rochester. After serving in the US Navy during WWII he became a lifetime member of the American Legion.
He was predeceased by Lavonne, his wife of seventy years, and his son Paul Zschoche in 2006, and sister, Martha Guild.
He is survived by 3 sons - William O. (Diana) Zschoche of SC, Richard (Melissa) Zschoche of Rochester, Thomas J. (Anna Mae) of NC, and Linda Zschoche of Fairport, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, his sister Caroline Dodd of Vestal, sisters-in-law Phyllis Herold of Florida and Darlene (John) Aulls of Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors 10-11 a.m. Saturday, December 15th at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Peter Dodd officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
The family would like to thank the staff at Strong Hospital Palliative Care Unit, and 6th floor.
