William E. Sanford Jr., 67, of Karr Valley Rd., passed away Saturday (March 31, 2018) at Strong Memorial Hospital.



Born in Hornell, NY, December 15, 1950, the son of William and Ruby Hill Sanford Sr., he had resided in this area most of his life. He retired from the military after 21 years of service; he worked for Crowley's in Arkport for 30 years, and also worked for the Addison Central School District and Gunlocke in Wayland. Bill enjoyed hunting and later in life enjoyed making homemade syrup.



He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Donna and sisters, Virginia "Dawn" Sanford and Robin Sanford.



He is survived by his wife Opal Ruanton Sanford, daughter; Yuna "Minnie", his nephew Brandon whom he raised, his brothers; big brother Joe (Roxy) Sanford, Terry (Sherry) Sanford, Tim Sanford, Chris (Brenda) Sanford, Adrian (Tammy) Sanford and Kenny Sanford, sisters; Cindy (Mike) Hurlburt, Gloria Dykes, Ardalia (Duane) Wilhelm, Ethel Caudill, Lisa Queen and Kimberly Rocheford, his brother-in-law, John (Deb) Campbell and sisters-in-law, Christine (David) Waters and Darlene (Dan) Farrand, his aunt Blanche Campbell as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present Thursday (April 5, 2018) from 1-3 and 5-7 PM , at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo where funeral services will be held immediately following calling hours at 7 PM, Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Gulley Cemetery.
