Wayne J. Cavanaugh, 61, of
3959 State Route 36, passed away Thursday (November 15, 2007) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Rochester, February 14, 1946, the son of Al and Dorothy Vanderstyne Cavanaugh,he had resided in Rochesterfor several years. He had served hiscountry as a member of the United States Navy from 1964-1968. While residing in Rochester, he was employed as a chef forseveral restaurants before moving to Canisteo about 1996. He had been employedas a chef at the former "Filling Station" in Canisteo, and established "BigPapa's Restaurant" on Greenwood Street 6 years ago. He was a member of the Canisteo AmericanLegion Post. Waynewas a member of Our Lady of The Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Anns Church in Hornell.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen SierensCavanaugh of Canisteo, his children, Donna Cavanaugh of California, Jason, ofCanisteo, Christopher and Michael of Hornell and Scott Cavanaugh of California,his sister, Lori Cavanaugh of Florida, his brother, Paul Cavanaugh of Virginia,cousin, James Cavanaugh of Florida, nieces and nephews, Josh, Jan, Tara,Tiffany and Jessica Cavanaugh, 3 grandchildren.
There will be no visitation hours. Family and friends areinvited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anns Church in Hornell on Saturday at 1:00 PM . Military honors will be accordedfollowing the Mass.Burial will be at the convenience of thefamily. There will be a receptionfollowing the services at the CanisteoAmerican Legion Post ,
