Walter Bob, 99, of Greenwood Street, died passed away (August 20, 2013) at the Vincent House in Wayland.
Born in Norwich, PA, March 21, 1914, the son of Stephen and Stephanie Bob, he had resided in Buffalo for several years with his wife, Mildred Lewis, and their children before moving to Canisteo in 1948. He worked for Sterling Engines during World War 11, receiving recognition of excellence for his work on the PT boat engines. He later worked as a union carpenter until his retirement.
He was married for 72 years to his wife Mildred. Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed visiting his family in Glen Cove. He was a member of VFW in Hornell , and past member of the Canisteo American Legion, and the Rod and Gun Club. Walter was also known in his younger years to enjoy spending time with his friends at Orville VanZile's Bar and Grill in Canisteo.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife , his brother, Joseph Bob, his sister, Josephine Calhoun, and his daughter, Barbara Wheatcraft, his granddaughter, Rebecca Wheatcraft, great granddaughter, Samantha Wheatcraft great grandson Colin Crook and great granddaughter Avery Stewart.
He is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Nancy) Bob of Watkins Glen, Thomas (Lynn ) Bob of Canisteo, four sisters, Helen Veroxie of Glen Cove, Stancy Smith of Oswego, Martha Painter of Hornell and Ruth Just of Glen Cove, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren

Honoring Walters wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a private family service at St. Ann's Cemetery in Hornell.
