Vivian M. King, 87, of
26 Meadowbrook Road, passed awayMonday evening (November 13, 2006) at the Steuben County Health Care Facility in Bath.
Born in West Almond, August 20, 1919, the daughter of Guy and BerniceAdams Tucker, she was a graduate of the Arkport School, Mansfield State Teachers College and haddone her post graduate work at Syracuse University. She had resided in Hornell and Arkport areasfor several years. She had taughtelementary school in the former Washington School in Hornell, and Arkport Central Schoolprior to her retirement in 1975.
Vivian was a 73 year member of the First Presbyterian Churchin Arkport and had served as a trustee, deacon and elder in the church. She was active in the Church Choir and theWoman's Circle of the church. She willbe remembered as an avid Mets Fan, and an enthusiastic bowler.She and her husband were members of the former "500 Club"
She was predeceased by her husband, Homer Theodore King in1974.
She is survived by two sons: James " Gary" King of Scottsville and David (Betsy) King of Canisteo, one grand daughter Nicole King ofScottsville.
The family will be present to receive friends from 11:00AM until 1:00 PMSaturday at the BENDER-BROWN & POWERS FUNERAL HOME,
354 Canisteo Street,Hornell where funeral services will follow calling hours at 1:00PM, Rev. Steve Jewell officiating.Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery. Arrangementsare entrusted to Robertson Funeral Home, new location, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell,NY.
