Virginia F. Smith,88,ofChurch Street Court, passed away Thursday (June 8, 2006) at the Vincent House in Wayland.
Born in Hornell, May 3, 1918, the daughterof John and Mary Maniak Damrath,she had resided in Hamburgfor several years, returning to Hornellin 1950. Virginia was a graduate of Hornell High School,Class of 1937 and had been employed atthe former Harvey & Carey Drug Store. Shewas a member of Our Lady Of The Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann's Church. She was also a member of the CatholicDaughters of the Americas , a member of the St. James Hospital Auxiliaryas well as the Foster Grandparents Program at St. Ann's.
She was predeceased byher husbands, Donald Hale and GeraldSmith, her son, Jeffery Hale, hersisters, Helen Stevens, Ruth Lodato, Irene VanSkiver, Mary Ormsby, and herbrothers, Leo and John Damrath.
She is survived by 2sons, James Hale of NC, and Jack (Cindy)Hale of Rochester, 4 grandchildren,

It was Virginia'swishes that her body be donated to theUniversity of Rochester Medical School. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burialwill be celebrated at St. Ann'sChurch in Hornell at a time to be announced.
