Virginia A. Burhans, 88, formerly of the Riverbend Apartments, passed away Tuesday (February 22, 2011) at the Hornell Gardens.
Born in Ellenville, December 2, 1922, she was the oldest of 5 children of Lee and Alice Coutant Burhans. She had resided in Amsterdam for many years where she was employed in the Housekeeping Department at the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. To be near her sister, Virginia moved to Alfred in 1989, and to Hornell in 2001. She was a member of the Alfred United Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her parents.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Margaret Ladd of California and Helen (Francis Gerald) Freeland of Canisteo, six nieces, one nephew and one angel.
