Victor N. Vareschi, 66, of 173 Madison Avenue, passed away peacefully, Thursday (June 14, 2018) at home. He was dearly loved by all that knew him, especially his grandchildren.
Born in North Adams, MA, June 27, 1951, the son of Victor B. and Delima (LaComb) Vareschi, he graduated from St Joe's High School in North Adams, MA. Skip started working for Sprague Electric in North Adams at age 16, in the cafe´, upon graduation from High School, he stayed on and worked until the plant closed. He also worked for Head Start, Williamstown Elementary School, and Mt Greylock ECF until his retirement on March 27, 2017. He had also served in the US Army from 1970-1976. On April 1, 2017, he moved to Hornell, to get to know his other grandchildren, and in doing so made many new friends.
Skip loved NASCAR. He followed racing for years. Rusty Wallace was his favorite driver, and his wife Kathy's was Dale Earnhardt, so they combined them to get married on April 23, 1999.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Osmin Vareschi, his children Lee (Michelle) Vareschi, Katie (Stanley) Trala, Mandy (Michael) Therien, Krystal (Sam) Cruz, Stephen (Jen Hurlburt) Zschoche, Lee (Dani Jo) Zschoche, Phillip (Anne) Zschoche, Samantha (Jon Faulkner) Zschoche, Tiffany (Joshua) Granger, and beloved grandchildren, Leia Trala, Brace Trala, (Jamie) (Aspen) Trala, TJ Vareschi, Owen Vareschi, Victoria (Jacob) Therien, Kayla Therien, Emily Therien, Elizabeth Therien, Lincoln Louison, Sabra (Dan) Fisher, Christian Zschoche, McKyle Zschoche, Jordan Burley, Kayla Eason, Carrie Zschoche, Patrick Zschoche, Leah Kodi Zschoche, Ashlee Zschoche, Logan Henderson, Joshua Cody Osmin, Caleb Osmin, Blake Granger, Gabriella Granger, Harleen Granger, Aaron Millner, Torry Eason, his great granddaughters Ariel & Jasmine, and his beloved cat Sylvester.
The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4pm Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Haskinville Wesleyan Church, where funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, with the Rev. Adam Smith officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.
