West Almond
Vernon L. Washburn, 82, of 2771 Karr Valley Road, passed away peacefully Sunday (March 10, 2013) at his home.
Born in Portageville, November 19, 1930, the son of Henry and Opal (Young) Washburn, he had resided in West Almond, since 1994. He had worked for a paper mill in Lockport, also for the Wilson School, and the former Angelica Central School. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents his sister Marian Washburn McCalley, 2 brothers William and Thomas Washburn.
He is survived by his wife Eva J. Haynes Washburn, whom he married October 17, 1970, 2 sons Vernon (Melissa) Washburn of West Almond, Joseph (Patti) Washburn of Bolivar, 2 step sons Byron R. Hill of Walton, William Hill of West Almond, a brother Robert (Shirley) Washburn of Lockport, a sister Eunice (David) Kemp of Belfast, a sister in law Irene Washburn of Honeyoe, 4 granchildren.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday (March 15, 2013) at 11:00am at the Angelica United Methodist Church.
