Verda C Davis, 88, of

6241 Crosby Creek Road,passed away Sunday (April27, 2008) at the Vincent House in Wayland.



Born in Alfred Station, March 14, 1920, the daughter of Clinton and PearlCole Freeland, she was a lifelong area resident. Verdagraduated from the former Alfred Academy in the last graduatingclass, and retired from Alfred State College in 1982 as a payroll secretary.She was the former president of the CSEA of Alfred State College, a member ofLOW (Loners on Wheels), and enjoyed traveling, crafts, knitting, reading, fleamarkets, but most delighted by her family, including her grand and greatgrandchildren.



She was predeceased by her parents, a granddaughter Brigid Porter in 1991, her granddaughter-in-law Pam Weinhauer in 2000, her sisters TwilaWright, Wilma Sanborn, and her brother Bruce Freeland.



She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Don) Weinhauer of Scio, 3 sons Bruce (Dorothy) Porter ofHornell, George (Pat) Porter of Hornell, and David (Janice) Porter ofWellsville 11 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren, several nieces andnephews.



The family will be present 3-5pm Thursday, at the Bender - Brown & Powers FuneralHome,

354 Canisteo St,Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM, with the Rev. Brian Diffenbacherofficiating. Burial will be in Alfred Rural Cemetery.
