Velma M. Kring

Velma M. Kring, 90, a resident of Elderwood, formerly of Webbs Crossing Road, passed away peacefully Friday (April 6, 2018) at Elderwood Nursing Home.
Born in Arkport, July 26, 1927, the daughter of James and Alma (Davis) Nephew, she was a lifelong area resident. On February 2, 1946 she married Raymond E. Kring, and was predeceased by him on December 13, 2009 after 63 years of marriage. She had worked for the former Westinghouse in Bath, Loohn's Cleaners in Hornell, and had volunteered for St James Mercy Hospital in the gift shop for several years. Velma had previously attended the First Baptist Church in Hornell, and most recently attended the Canisteo Wesleyan Church. She and her husband had enjoyed traveling extensively, and spending a couple winter months a year in Florida. To quote Velma herself "I love and live for my family", really summed up how she felt about her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Raymond, her sister Glenna Darrow, and her brother Merrill Nephew.
She is survived by her daughter Susan (Charles) Feenaughty of Fla, 2 sons Raymond E. (Rita) Kring of Fla, Garry (SueAnn) Kring of Arkport, her sister in law Margaret Nephew of Arkport, 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 2-3pm Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell, where Funeral services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 3:00 PM, with the Rev. Donald Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Heritage Hill Cemetery in Arkport.
