Velma M. Acker, 88, of Whitney Valley Heights, passed awayFriday (December 14,2007) at McAuley Manor.
Born in Payne,OH, April 14, 1919, the daughter of Floyd and Iola RiopelleForeman, she had graduated from Hornell High School, and residedin the Hornell, and Almond area most of her life. On June 23, 1945 she married Hugh Ackerwho survives. She had worked for the former Merrill Hosiery , and the former FBC Plazain Hornell. Velma was a member of the Hillside Baptist Church, enjoyed bowlingand refinishing furniture.
She is survived by her husband Hugh, a son Gary (Phyllis)Ackerof Almond, 4 sisters: Joan (Mike)Duffyof Hornell, Jean Merithew of Avon, Barbara Kraft of Canandaigua, and Donna(Robert) Bennett of Ohio, 3 grandchildren Amanda Acker, Elizabeth Acker andJennifer Mae Acker.
The family will be present to receive friends Tuesday from2-4 & 7-9pm , at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 CanisteoSt, Hornell, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am with herbrother in law Pastor Robert Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.
