Vance N. Gardner, 68, of 134 East Avenue, passed away peacefully Sunday (June 11, 2017) at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Hornell, August 27, 1948, the son of Gerald M. and Helen Tobias Gardner, he had resided in South Carolina for eight years, but had spent the rest of his life in Hornell. Vance retired after 22 years at Alstom in Hornell. Vance will be remembered best for the great love he had for his family, especially his wife Barbara.
He was predeceased by his parents, his son; Gerald Gardner, his brothers; Vaughn, and Vernon Gardner, as well as his sisters; Vera Griswold, Verna Croston and Vada Carlini.
He is survived by his beloved wife; Barbara Cotton Gardner to whom he was married on July 19, 1986, his daughters; Dawn Marie Gardner of Kanona and Dana L. Gardner of Hornell, his son; Vance Gardner Jr. of Hornell, 11 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren.

The family will be present from 5-7 PM on Thursday (June 15, 2017) at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell where a memorial services will be held following calling hours at 7PM. Scott Buttons will officiate.
