Tressie L. (Nye) Smith,97, formerly of

West Avenuepassed away Thursday (January 3, 2008) at the homeof her grandson and wife, Randy and Sanna Jackson where she had resided thelast 4 years and received loving care.



Born in HarrisonValley, PA,November 16, 1910,the daughter of Charles and Bernice Elder Nye, she had resided in this area nearlyall her life. She had been employed for several years at the formerWestinghouse in Bath,and later for the Hornell School System. Tressie will be remembered as a wellknown area artist whose art work was displayed at Bath National Bank at the ageof 94. She loved horseback riding, camping,sewing and animals



She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Smith in 1977after 49 years of marriage, as will as 2 grandchildren, Michael Smith andYvonne Yanni.



She is survived by 4 daughters, Jean House of Florida, MarianScheithauer of Rochester, Virginia (James) Jackson of Fremont, andTeresa (Louis) McIntosh of Canisteo, one son, Karl(Barbara) Smith of Hornell,good friend, Gladys Fidler, 21grandchildren, and many great and great great grandchildren.

There will be no public visitation hours. A private funeralservice will be held at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home 6 Spruce Street,Canisteo. Rev. Steven Dygert will officiateBurial will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Town Of Fremont.
