Tina L. Whiteman, 53, of Canisteo, New York, and formerly of Wayland and Hornell, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Born on November 20, 1972, Tina was the daughter of Cheryl A. James (Reese) and the late Dennis J. Curry. She attended Bryant School and Hornell High School, proudly going on to earn her GED. In her younger years, she fondly remembered her time as a member of the Desperado Debs. Tina had a heart for her community and dedicated her working hours to helping others, having been employed at Sue's Rest home and the Salvation Army in Dansville.
Above all, Tina loved her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ricky J. Whiteman; her three beloved children, Stephanie, Stephen, and Karen Whiteman; and her four cherished grandchildren, Lacy, Presley, Lily, and Tanner.
She also leaves behind her mother, Cheryl A. Reese and her father James E. Reese; her sisters, Denise J. M. Curry and Billie Jo Curry; her brothers, James E. Reese Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and Jonathan D. Reese; her nieces, Kyland M. Folts, and her husband Sean, Lexi R. Remchuk; and her nephews, Devin J. Brown, Joshua T. Brown, and Brice Linton. Tina was loved by multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her biological father, Dennis J. Curry.
Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, located at 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell. A funeral service celebrating her life will take place at the funeral home immediately following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family warmly welcomes memorial donations made to a charity of the donor's choice in Tina's memory.
