Theodore S. Thomas Jr. 87, formerly of Maple Street, Canisteo, passed away Monday (April 4, 2011) at Leesburg Regional Med. Center in Leesburg, Florida
Born in Hornell, August 4, 1923, the son of Theodore and Helen Doty Thomas, he had resided in Canisteo for many years before moving to Florida in 1984. He was employed as a salesman for Gerber Products for 27 years prior to his retirement in 1976. Ted served his country as a member of the US Navy from 1942-1946. He was a former member of the Canisteo Civic Club, the Canisteo Fire Department, the Canisteo Archery Club and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. Ted was an avid hunter and sportsman, and taught the Hunter Safety Course for several years. He was the New York State Archery Champion.
He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Louise Lepsch Thomas in 1987, his brother, Richard Thomas in 2001, his son-in-law, Jeffrey Gardner in 2011, and his step-son, Kenneth Schrader.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hills Schrader Thomas whom he married in 1990, his daughters, Christine Dineen of Hornell, Margaret "Peg" Claremont of Florida, Kim Gardner of Howard, his sons, Ronald (Sally) Thomas of Tennessee, Steven Thomas of Arkport and Stuart Thomas of Canisteo, step-daughter, Terry (Dennis) Bardeen of Canisteo and step-son, Donald (Beth) Schrader of Swain, his brother- Jack (Coral) Thomas of Florida, 11 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, 6 Step- Grandchildren , 11 Step-great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4&6-8 PM Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo where funeral services and military honors will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
