N. Hornell: Thelma B. (McCarthy) Johnston, 65, of 325 Seneca Road passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at her home on Tuesday (January 5, 2010).
Born in Rochester, April 21, 1944, the daughter of George W. and Mary Tuttle McCarthy Jr, she grew up in Livonia and raised her family in Springwater. Throughout her life, Thelma served as assistant Special Ed. Teacher at Wayland Central School, a nurse at St. James Mercy Hospital and an in-home care provider and pet groomer. She was a talented artist and loved her family, friends and her pets.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Lauree (Jay) Heise of Rochester, Leesa Johnston of Hornell, her son, Dale (Lisa) Johnston of Plant City, Florida, stepmother, Dorothy McCarthy of Plant City, Florida, step-brother, Charles Ruggles of Springwater, her six grandchildren, Nadine, Brooke, Andrew, Amber, Joshua and Gabriel, 2 great grandchildren, Ava and Cole, several nieces, nephews, and her fiance´ Carl Rook.

There will be no prior calling hours. A celebration of Thelma's life will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Riverside Cemetery in Rochester.
