Thelma Dungan, 95 a long time resident of Karr Valley Road, passed away Thursday (December 22, 2016) at the Seager-Bates Home, where she had resided for a little over 3 years.
Born in Oklahoma, January 2, 1921, the daughter of John and Eva Clapp Cantrell, she was a lifelong area resident. She was retired from Alfred State College, where she had been on the custodian staff. Thelma loved her Soap Opera's, to dance and sing (especially the Crawdad Song), and gardening having some of the most beautiful rose bushes. Her true love was being a mother, and grandmother, enjoying every minute she could with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward V. Dungan Jr. in 1996, her son Larry Dungan, 2 daughters Marilyn Mullen, Betty Washburn, 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
She is survived by her daughters Peggy DeMarco of Canandaigua, Mary Jo France of Hornell, and Barbara Haley of Hornell, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter, and 1 great great grandson.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home.
