Terry Akins, age 74 of Canaseraga, entered into rest unexpectedly August 6, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital, following complications from a hip replacement surgery.
Terry was born January 27, 1951 in Hornell to Harvey and Bettie (Kern) Akins.
Terry is predeceased by his parents Harvey and Bettie Akins and his son Ryan Akins.
Terry is survived by his children Jared (Aimee Sciotti) Akins and Brittany (Matthew) Simon, grandchildren Lyla Akins, Remington Akins, and Tristan Simon, his sister Darlene (Michael) Krupp and nephew Chad Krupp.
Terry was a graduate of Avoca Central School (1969) and earned an Associate degree from Corning Community College. Terry was employed at Gunlocke Company in Wayland for 39 years. In his younger years he was an avid hunter, bowler, and snowmobile racer and enjoyed researching genealogy. In addition, Terry was an organ and tissue donor, his final gift will touch the lives of many.
The family is requesting a private burial at Greenville cemetery in Avoca alongside his son Ryan. A celebration of life will be held for the public at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are with the Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell, New York.
