Susan M Collins, 71, of 17 North Street, passed away Saturday (March 6, 2010) at her home.



Born in Wellsville, May 5, 1938, the daughter of George and Maebelle Manley HerrNeckar, she had resided in Howard most of her life. She was a graduate of Avoca Central School and was employed as a typesetter at the Hornell Evening Tribune for 20 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Howard Union Church where she had served as organist and choir director for several years. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines and the former Howard Chapter , Order of Eastern Star.



She is survived by one son, Robert (Monica) Recktenwald of Owatonna MN., 3 daughters, Cathy Shupp of Arkport, Karen (Henry Drake Jr.) Henry of Canisteo and Bonnie (Douglas Cook) Trevino of Hornell, one sister, Nancy Casterline of Belmont, 7 grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, 2 nephews.



The family will be present to receive friends from 5-7PM Tuesday at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell where funeral services will be held following calling hours at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery.
