Steven R. Brott Sr. 64, of 28 East Main Street, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday (October 6, 2016) at the Vincent House in Wayland.



Born in Hornell, August 31, 1952, the son of William and Betty Patterson Brott, he had resided in Hornell nearly all his life. Steve served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. He had been employed as a machinist at Gleason Works in Rochester.



He was a member of the Hornell AMVETS, the Hornell Moose Lodge, loved bowling, hunting , the "Price Is Right" and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially his canine friends "Corkie and Sam". Steve was an avid New England Patriots Fan.



He was predeceased by his father, William Brott and his brother, Ronald Brott.



He is survived by his children, Sandra Rovito of Ohio and Steven Brott Jr. of Canisteo; his mother, Betty Hamilton of Hornell and three sisters; Judith (Jim) Bicker of Hornell, Jean (Clarence) Freas of Fremont and Cindy Plank of Hornell, 6 grandchildren; Christopher Lafler, Dylan Lafler (Esha Vance), Cory Brott, George Brott, Zachary Rovito and Jacob Rovito , two great grandchildren; Lucas Vance and Chase Lafler.

The family will be present to receive friends on Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell from 11 Am until 1 pm. Funeral services with military honors will follow calling hours at 1:00 PM, Rev. Tyrone Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Town Line Cemetery, Cameron Mills.
