Steven C. Bossard, 69, a resident of Upper Glen Avenue, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday (Nov. 24,2025). He was born in Hornell, October 21, 1956, the son of James and Bonnie Carlin Bossard and had resided most of his life in the Hornell area. He was a graduate of Canisteo Central School.
In his younger years his passions included anything he could drive fast. Over the years he competed in races involving stock cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles and drag trucks, resulting in hundreds of checkered flags. He also spent a lot of his spare time building and rebuilding all of the vehicles him and his friends raced. He was always there to help out a friend and lend a hand.
Steven was last employed as a truck driver for Butler Construction in Hornell. Throughout his career as a truck driver, he received many awards including Driver of the Year, as well as trained many new drivers. He took great pride in his job and worked hard every day.
He was a member of the Hornell VFW Post 2250, the Canisteo American Legion Post 846, and the Hornell Moose Lodge.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Surviving is his daughter, Tammie (Chad) Mullen of Hornell, his sister, Terri Bossard of Cohocton and half sister, Jaime (Tom) McInerney of Georgia, his brother, Allen Bossard of Canisteo, 3 grandchildren (Brody, Peyton and Logan) and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Southside Grill on Canisteo Street in Hornell on Sunday (Nov. 30, 2025) from 2 PM until 4 PM.
The family is being assisted by Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home of Hornell.
