Stanley M. Savey, 87, of 87 Main Street, passed away Tuesday (November 13, 2012) at his home.
Born in Hornell, March 30, 1925, the son of Guy and Jessie (White) Savey, he was a lifelong area resident. Stanley served in the US Navy during World War II, and retired in 1987, from the Alfred University Grounds crew. He was a life member of the Hornell Moose Lodge, and the Hornell American Legion Post #440. Stanley enjoyed the outdoors, doing yard work and fishing.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Harold Savey, and his granddaughter Christine Anderson.
He is survived by his wife Frances (Wood) Savey whom he married on February 5, 1954, his two daughters Susan (Richard) Stevens of Canisteo, and Diane (Milton) Niles of Sayre, PA, 5 grandchildren, several great grandchildren.
The family will be present 11am-1pm Friday, November 16, 2012, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Steve Dygert officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
