Stanley E. Neu Sr.

Stanley E. Neu Sr., 80, of State Route 36, passed away Sunday (September 30, 2012) at Highland Hospital in Rochester.

Stanley was born on April 19, 1932 into the farming community in Arkport where he resided his whole life amongst two different farms. In 1950 he purchased his first farm from Ben Dewitt and then in 1957 he bought the neighboring farm known as the Baker Farm. He worked and lived with his father Milton until 1964 and moved to his own Farm, but continued to help work both farms until 1976 when his father's property was sold.

In 1979 he decided to build and open a roadside vegetable stand which remains open to this day. During those years he met and made many friends which he enjoyed immensely. Stanley was known far and wide for his famous red potatoes.

Stanley's beliefs were always to help thy neighbor and his farm families included the Spencer's, the Bennett's and the Hurlbut's. Whether it was borrowing machinery, barn space, moving cattle, dehorning, power outages or tragedy, they all come together and acted as one. Farming was Stanley's true love and he took a lot of pride in what he did.

Everyone who knew Stanley, all knew that he favorite past time was to visit. He considered farm auctions a huge social event and rarely missed one and his son Roy was always in attendance. They did not go anywhere without each other. Stanley also loved to deer hunt, rabbit hunt but pheasant hunting was his favorite. Stanley will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Mildred (Isaman) Neu, brothers; Delorus and Leon Neu, sister; Christine Neu, special nephew; Ronald Neu and niece Nancy Neu.
