Shane L. Hayes, 59 of Bennett St., passed away peacefully Sunday (February 21, 2010) at his home.



Born in Pidgeon, MI, March 20, 1950, the son of Dean and Ellen (Harder) Hayes, he had resided in the Hornell area for several years.



Shane worked at Sebewaing Industries in Michigan as a press operator for over 15 years. He held many more jobs throughout his travels from Texas to eventually settling down in New York. Shane was very instrumental in starting the Call Homestead Museum formerly the Hartsville Museum holding many positions from president to caretaker until his retirement.



He was predeceased by his parents and a close friend Richard Call.



He is survived by four sisters, Holly Whitek of MI, Christine (Russell) Rash of MI, Kathy (Melvin) Thompson of MI and Shannon (Edgar) Morrison of AL, close friends, Donald Schulity of Hornell and Tammy (Jack Cole) Woodward of Alfred Station, several nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Honoring Shane's wishes there will be no services. Burial will in Hartsville Center Cemetery.
