Dr. S.H. GopinathaRao, 63, of
7802 Bishopville Rd,passed away Friday (December 22, 2006) at the UniversityOf Pittsburg Medical Center.
Born in Bangalore, India , January 9, 1943, the son of Hanumantha and Venku Bai Rao, he graduated from Rashtriya Vidyalaya High School in 1958, and Bangalore University in India with a Bachalor Degree inMedicine and Surgery. He theninterned at Mount Sinai Hospital from 1967 until 1968, and afellowship in Anesthesiology at Misericordia Hospital, both in New York City from 1971 until 1972, and graduated from theUniversity of the State New York in 1973. He then was employed at St JamesMercy Hospital from 1975 until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the "American Society ofAnesthesiologists since 1972.
He was predeceased by his parents, and one son, S.G. Hemanth"Bob" Rao in 2003.
He is survived by hiswife, Gladys Munoz Rao whom he married June 29, 1969, two daughters: S.G. Anjali (Kevin) Reagey of New Mexico, S.G. Janaki Rao of Almond, two sons, S. G. Goverdhan (Heather) Rao of Hornell and S. G. Sunil (Jessica) Rao of Hornell, 4 grandchildren, JoshuaDaniel Rao, Elijah-James Rao, Eden Lynn Rao and Alexis Faith Rao, 2 Sisters,S.H. Anasuya Bhounslay, S.H. Kasturi Jadhav, both of India, , 2 Nephews and 2Nieces.
The family will be present to receive friends from 4PMuntil 5PMWednesday, January 3, 2007,at the Robertson Funeral Home, new location,
354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeralservices will be held following calling hoursat 5:00 PM. Rev. Ken Chroniger will officiate.Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Almond.
