Sarah Luella Remchuk, 93, passedaway Tuesday (April 1, 2008) at
172Terry Street.
Born in Canisteo, July 5, 1914, the daughter of the late Isaac and Mina (Halsey) Jones, she had resided in the Hornell- Canisteo areaall her life. She was a graduate of the former Canisteo Academyin 1932, and the State University of New York College in 1964. She was employed at the former ModernCleaners while taking evening classes at Geneseo. She taught at Campbell and Addison Schoolsas well as Arkport Central Schoolwhere she retired in 1979. She was married to Paul Remchukin March of 1938, and he predeceased her in October, 2002, after 64 years ofmarriage. She was also predeceased byher granddaughter, Paula in 1972.
Luella was a Steuben County Retired Senior Volunteer for theSteuben County Health Department working Clinics for kids etc. She was a memberof the Hornell Rebekah Lodge # 105, and the Woman OfThe Moose Chapter 620, enrolling in 1963. She held many positions thereincluding Academyof Friendship in 1966, College of Regents in 1966, Star Recorder in 1978,and became a life member in 1978. She loved playing bingo and was a bingoinspector for the City of Hornellfor many years.
She is survived by her children, James (Audrey) Remchukof Hornell, Robert (Judy) Remchuk of West Chazy, N.Y., and Bonnie (James) Dunn of Milan, ILL, one brother: G. M.(Helen) Jones of the Swale, 11grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 2 - 4 PM Saturday, at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home,
354 Canisteo St.,Hornell, where the Woman of the Moose will conduct a memorial service followingcalling hours at 4 PM. Funeral services will be held at 4:15PM, with Rev. Michael Childs officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery,Canisteo.
