Ruth M. West, 88, formerly of Hornell and Loon Lake,passed away Saturday (October25, 2008) at Beachtree Care Center in Ithaca.
Born in North Hornell, July 1, 1920, the daughterof Charles E. and Gladys (Fenton) Bathrick, she hadresided in Hornell most of her life and at Loon Lakesince 1968. She was a graduate of The Hornell High School class of 1936 and the Geneseo Normal School where shebecame a certified teacher. She owned and operated Mary's Grocery in Hornell,and also worked as the manager of the catalogue department for the former Searsand Robuck of Hornell and during that time she wasactive in training other departments across the state. In later years Ruth was activein the operation of Bathricks Florists.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Harold in1988.
She is survived by two daughters; Charlene West ofBrooktondale and Glady West of Dryden. one brother;Dr. Charles Batherick of Canadaigua.
Private funeralservices were held today at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home,
354 Canisteo St.Hornell. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
