Ruth J. Speed, 97, of Russell Street, passed away Saturday (Jan. 22, 2022) at the Steuben Centers in Bath.
Born in Canisteo, Dec. 14, 1924, she was the daughter of Ray and Winifred Foster Spencer. She was a graduate of Greenwood Central School, and had resided her entire life in this area.
Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canisteo, former member of the “Sweet Adelines”, and enjoyed playing cards. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Thomas Speed as well as two sons; William and Thomas Speed.
Surviving are one son, Richard Speed of Canisteo and several grand, great grand and great great grandchildren.
