Ruth E. (Lyke) Easterbrooks

Hornell/Corning

Ruth E. Easterbrooks age 94 formerly of Webbs Crossing Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday (February 22, 2026) at Corning Center Nursing Home.

She was born in North Hornell, NY, on March 20,1931 the daughter of Floyd E. Lyke and Ehtelyn (Orvis) Lyke. She graduated from Hornell High School, and attended Morrisville College to attain her LPN Nursing Certificate. Ruth married the love of her life Charles Easterbrooks on September 12, 1953, and was predeceased by him on September 24, 2003. She worked for many years at the former Bethesda Community Hospital. Ruth enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as going out to eat, camping, boating, or traveling when she could.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Charlie, her brothers Robert, Kenneth and Ralph Lyke, and her brother in law Dee Clark.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann (Jeff) Robinson of Wayland, her son George (Cindy) Easterbrooks of Hornell, her sister Dorothy Clark of Hornell, granddaughters Megan (Cody) Reid and Kelsie Easterbrooks, her great granddaughters Libby Smith and Josie Reid.

The family will be present to receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday (February 26, 2026) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell, where a Funeral Service will take place at 7:00pm with Pastor John Cwynar officiating. Burial will be at Heritage Hills Cemetery in Arkport.
