Russell D. O'Dell, 78, of

73 Front Street, passed away Saturday (October 13, 2007) at theBath VA Nursing Home.



Born in Hornell, May 28, 1929, the son of Frank D. and Nina Rogers O'Dell,he had resided in Hornell and Arkport all his life. He was a graduate of Hornell High School,Class of 1947. He was a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict andwas stationed in Germany . He was employed for the former Cards DrugStore, by Mose Evans and Charlie Hall as a body man, and the Erie LackawannaRailroad as well as the Delaware & Hudson Railroad as a fireman andengineer, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Hornellsville Lodge #44 F&AM, the Hornell American Legion as well as a member of the Hornell Moose Lodge.



Russell was an avid gardener, woodworker, and photographerand loved to feed & watch wild birds.



He was predeceased by his parents, a son Stephen E. O'Dell,a daughter, Marcia D. O'Dell, his brother, Gerald O'Dell and his sister, B.Corrine Backer.

He is survived by hischildren, Christiana (Donald) Wellington of Ocala, FL., Donna O'Dell ofHornell, Stephanie Lecceardone of Arkport, Pennie (Garold) Poyer of WestAlmond, Jennifer (Bud) Craft of Hornell, Theodore (Debra) O'Dell of Fremont,his sisters, Arlene F. O'Dell and Phyllis E.O'Dell of Hornell, his grandchildren, Laurel Evans, Sandra & JuliaWellington, Shannon HerrNecker, Rebecca Lecceardone, Thomas Lorow, Scott &Shawn Biddle, Kristen & Leslie Poyer, Russell Deuel, Christopher &Nicholas O'Dell, Emily & Nicholas Vincent, four great grandchildren, nieces& nephews.



The family will be present to receive friends Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2007 from 7-9PM at the Bender - Brown &Powers Funeral Home,

354 CanisteoSt, where a private funeral service will be held onThursday, with the Rev. Michael Childs officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Arkport Cemetery.
