Rubel H. "Charlie" Jenkins, 83, of
46 East VanScoter Street,passed away Thursday (February21, 2008) at McAuley Manor.
Born in Grenada ,MS, February 1, 1925,the son of William and Laura (Pyron) Jenkins, he hadresided in Hornell most of his life. He was a member of the Liberty Fellowshipas well as the Teamsters local #65. He was also a member of the Hornell YMCA. He enjoyed playing his steel guitar and willbe remembered for playing in the Salty Austin and the SerenadersBand on radio WLEA. Rubel had a love of NASCAR,gardening and cooking. He served his country as a member of the U. S.Army.
He was predeceased by his parents and one brother: MikeJenkins and one sister: Edna Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis (Thomas) Jenkins ofHornell, four sons: Dudley (Teresa) Jenkins of Hornell, Richard Jenkins ofCanisteo, Rubel D. ( Kimberley) Jenkins of Hornell and John C.Jenkins and his daughter Katie of Corning, one daughter: Thelma (Ron) Morse ofCampbell, one sister: Willie Knell of Houston, 7 grandchildren, 5 greatgrandchildren, nieces & nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 2-5pmSunday, February 24, 2008, at the Bender - Brown& Powers Funeral Home,
354Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2008at 11:00 AM at the funeralhome with his son, Rev. Dudley Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.
