Rosemary Dineen, 85, of 5813 Dineen Rd., passed away Monday (July 9, 2012) at her home.



Born in Hornell, October 9, 1926, the daughter of Samuel and Margaret Lavery Dineen, she had resided her entire life in Canisteo. She was graduate of Canisteo Central School and the Hornell Business School. She retired as secretary and office manager of the Prudential Insurance Office in Hornell, following over 40 years of service. Rosemary was a member of Our Lady Of The Valley Parish and a communicant of the former St. Joachims Church in Canisteo where she was an active member of the Alter and Rosary Society. Rosemary will be remembered as an avid bowler and was a member of the "600 Club" at the Hornell Bowl. Rosemary was considered the "Matriarch" of the Dineen family, and nothing was more important to her than her family.



She was predeceased by her parents, her infant sister, Mary Dineen, her brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Norma Dineen and her nephew, Dillen McCormick.



She is survived by 2 sisters, Elizabeth (Burr) Ripley of Ithaca and Margaret Penna of Rochester, 3 brothers, Jack (Joyce) Dineen of Howard, Samuel "Jim" Dineen of Canisteo, and Thomas Dineen also of Canisteo, several beloved nieces and nephews.

Honoring Rosemary's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 12 Noon at St. Mary's Church in Rexville. Committal prayers and burial will follow in St Mary's Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
