Rose Marie Conklin, 92, formerly of Cedar Street, passed away peacefully, Tuesday (November 7, 2017) at Elderwood Nursing Home.



Born in Hornell, December 8, 1924, the daughter of Stan and Genevieve (Simchick) Roski, she was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Hornell High School. On August 19, 1950 she married Elden G "Jiggs" Conklin, who predeceased her on March 26, 2000. She was a communicant of the former St. Ignatius Catholic Church, and currently Our Lady of the Valley Parish/St Ann's Catholic Church, and also the Altar & Rosary Society. In her early life, she worked for a war factory in Buffalo, traveled to the country of Cuba, and later worked for the Sear's Store in Hornell. She was active in the local Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts for over 20 years, and was very involved in her children's sports and activities. Rose enjoyed arts and crafts, even making Christmas ornaments for loved ones. She also was an avid photographer of which she would love to show her various photos with everybody, while building the family history. Rose and her husband "Jiggs" traveled extensively visiting family and friends throughout the country, and also traveled to China with her sister Margaret Roski.



She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Elden Conklin and her sister Margaret Roski.



She is survived by a daughter Gail Marie Conklin of Buffalo, her 3 sons Dennis (Margaret Tam) Conklin of FLA, Kevin (Jean Alexin) Conklin of Hornell, Patrick (Joanne Capruso) Conklin of SC, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.



The family will be present 5-7PM Friday, November 10, 2017, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fremont.
