Ronald R. Sutton, 76, of 5515 Nott Road, passed away Wednesday (November 16, 2011) in Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.
Born in Town Of Rathbone, April 20, 1935, the son of Stanley H. and Inez (Saxton) Sutton, he had resided in Jasper for 52 years before moving to Canandaigua in 1998. Ronald owned and operated a Dairy Farm for 40 years and was a past member of the NYS American Gurnsey Cattle Club and former president of the Tri-County Gurnsey Club. Ronald was also a 25 year member of the Dairylea serving as local president and local delegate. He was a past member of the Jasper Methodist Church where he served as trustee and youth counselor. Ronald was a former member of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Company where he served as treasurer and also a former member of the Jasper Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He worked for 5 years as a lime truck driver, mill foreman and assistant manager. Ronald was a manager of the Grocery Department at the Richmeyer's Giant Food Mart and owned and operated Greenway Acres Dairy Bar and Restaurant from 1972 until 1981. Ron was a former member of the FGBMF and co-founder of Rainbow Ministries Inc., and served as President and ministered from 1980-1998. He was a substitute School Bus driver for Jasper Troupsburg Central School for 20 years and was a full-time bus driver as well as working in the building and maintenance department for 13 years, retiring in 1998. Upon moving to Canandaigua, he served as co-manager and maintenance man at Canandaigua Garden Apartments from 1998 until 2006. Ron's favorite hobby was making maple syrup.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richard Sutton
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wade Sutton who he married on June 14, 1953, his daughter Regina (James Jr.) Rice of Jasper, his son, Stanley (Laurene) Sutton of Canandaigua, his sister, Joyce (Frank) Wargo of Ohio, his brothers, Harry (Beverly) Sutton of Indiana and David Sutton of Jasper, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.
