Robert S. Zeltwanger, 82, of
43 South Elm Street,passed away Tuesday (February3, 2009) at the Hornell Gardens.
Born in Canisteo, December 13, 1926, the sonof Clyde and Irene StephensZeltwanger, he had resided in Canisteo hisentire life. He was a graduate of Canisteo Central Schooland served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Bob was employedat the former Pfitzenmaier's Service Station inCanisteo for 42 years prior to his retirement in 1991. Bob enjoyed working in wood crafts, watchingthe Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills, watching NASCAR and putting togethershaped jigsaw puzzles.
On January14, 1951, Bob married Dorothy Kring whopredeceased him on March 2,1992 after 41 years of marriage.
He was predeceased by his wife and parents, 2 sisters,Evelyn Greene and Barbara Whiting, his brother, Clyde "Pete" Zeltwanger, his mother and father-in-law, 2brothers-in-law, as well as one niece and one nephew.
He is survived by 3 children, Steve (Debbie) Zeltwanger of Hornell, Bill (Ann) Zeltwangerof Hornell and Judy (Doug) Palmer of Hinsdale, 4 grandchildren, Ashley Zeltwanger, Lisa Zeltwanger, KurtZeltwanger, Staci Zeltwanger, his sister-in-law, Betty Zeltwangerof Canisteo, several nieces & nephews.
