Robert C. "Hardrock" Slaght, 71, of
11 Maplewood Avenue,passed away unexpectedly Sunday (December 26, 2004) at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Born in Hornell, October 3, 1933, the son of Charles andIda Lounsberry Slaght, he had resided all his life in Hornell. He was a graduate of Hornell High School,Class of 1953, and had been employed as a machinist and welder for the former Erie and Erie LackawannaRailroad, General Electric, and the former Morrison Knudsen in Hornell. Hardrock was anavid hunter, and a former member of the NRA.He enjoyed yard work , spending time at the OTB Office in Hornell, andplaying cards, especially Euchre.
He was predeceased by hisparents, an infant daughter and one brother, Dewey Slaght.
He is survived by hiswife, Phyllis Nary Slaght whom he married Sept. 4,1954, 2 daughters Donna (Richard) Baconof Hornell and Linda (Michael) Barnes ofAndover; 3 sons, Michael Slaght of Hornell, Raymond(Val) Slaght of North Hornell and Jay (Ellen) Slaght of Hornell; 1 sister, EvalenaSlaght of Hornell and 2 brothers, Charles Slaght of Rochester, and Thomas (Sandy) Slaghtof Elmira; 10 Grandchildren, John Bacon, Steve Bacon, Joe Bacon, Amanda Barnes,Shelley Barnes, Susan Slaght, Brandon Slaght, Ryan Slaght, Jake Slaght and Angela Slaght; 6 greatgrandchildren, several nieces & nephews.
