Robert E "Bob" Sanford

Robert E Sanford, 84, of 7185 North Main Street Ext, passed away Tuesday (March 9, 2010) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Bishopville, May 26, 1925, the son of James and Myrtle Flint Sanford, he was a lifelong area resident, and retired from the Hornell School District as a Bus Driver and Mechanic. Bob was a member of the Hornell Moose, former member of the Hornell Assoc. and Hornell VFW. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, but most of all his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth "Betty" Pierce, and second wife MaryEllen Sanford, his son Adair Sanford, daughter Charlotte Dodge, grandson Vernon Sanford, sisters Agnes Reynolds, Pearl Sanford, and Beverly Bailey, and a brother Paul Sanford.
He is survived by daughters Carol Andrews of Bath, Marcia (Thomas) Davis of Hornell, Connie (Jeffery) Freeland of Almond, step daughters Sheila Breed (Nick McNeil) of Hornell, Shana Armbruster of Ohio, sons Calvin (Roxanne) Sanford of Hornell, Terry (Janice) Sanford of TN, Robert (Tina) Sanford of OH, step son Bryce Hanning of Hornell, daughter in law Pennie Sanford of VA, 34 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
The family will be present 2-4 &7-9PM Friday, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 10:00 AM, Rev. Dudley Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.
