Robert L. Masterson

June 22, 1957 — March 8, 2024

Robert "Bobby" Larry Masterson of Hornell passed away on Friday March 8th, 2024 at the age of 66 outliving his life expectancy by over 3 decades. Born on June 22, 1957;Bobby was the son of Donald Masterson and Gloria (Pulkowsky) Masterson.
Faced with much adversity his whole life Bobby thrived on independence and was able to live on his own in Wellsville for several years with the help and guidance from his sister Donna (Masterson) Depew. Those who knew Bobby can remember him for his many hobbies, love of sports, and volunteer work. If you have ever put money in the Red Kettle out front of the local stores for the Salvation Army chances are you have seen Bobby out there ringing the bell; no matter the weather during the holidays he was faithfully there. He always made his love for sports well known as he would constantly be seen at local softball games and recognized for arguing with the ump if he didn't agree with their call. The Miami Dolphins was his favorite football team- he would rarely miss a game or a chance to wear his Dolphins gear. Visiting with Bobby would always mean listening to his favorite- Old Country Western music, an outting would most likely consist of the pool shark running the game on the pool table or a trip to his favorite restaurant The Texas Cafe.
Bobby was predeceased by his youngest brother Daniel Masterson, who lost his hard fought and courageous battle with cancer in August of 2020. Also, predeceased by his mother Gloria (Pulkowski) Masterson and his father Donald Masterson.
He is survived by two sisters, Bernice (Jeff) Mulhollen of Hornell, Donna (Rex) Depew of Hornell; two brothers, David Masterson of Hornell, Richard Masterson of Hornell; special niece Rachel (Chad) Depew-Schaumberg, their son Dylan; and many other nieces and nephews.
On September 6th, 2020 at Robert's brother Danny's Graveside Service Bobby told his brother he would see him again someday. His family and friends find comfort in the picture of the two brothers rejoicing in their reunion playing ball and arguing about sport calls.
A Graveside service will be held at a later date at the Fremont Cemetery.
Whenever Bobby would call his sister as soon as she would answer the phone he would say the exact same thing, "Hello Donna, this is your brother Bobby." Although she had caller ID and his voice was unmistakable. Upon ending every call he would say, "Tell Rachel and Dylan I love them." There would never be a call as long as he lived that didn't begin and end that way, that's the way his family and friends will remember him.
