Robert H. Burley, 89, of 55 Fulton Street, passed away Friday (April 30, 2010) at his home.



Born in Dansville, October 14, 1920, the son of Clarence and Elizabeth Burley, he had resided in Hornell since 1964. Robert served his country as a member of the US Army during WW-2. He had been employed at the Blum Shoe Factory in Dansville in his early life, and later in maintenance at the former Foster Wheeler Corp., in Dansville prior to his retirement in 1982.



He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Agnes "Gerry" Burley in 2004, as well as his 2 sisters, Marion Butler and Charlotte Spigler, and his 2 brothers, Richard and Arthur Burley.



He is survived by 2 daughters- Nancy Campbell of Hornell, Linda (Christopher) Lauffer of Penfield, 3 sons, John Burley of Hornell, William Burley of Alabama, and James (Linda) Burley of Hornell, his sister, Helen Bowen of California, 2 brothers, Donald and Walter Burley both of Dansville, 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, nieces & nephews.



The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
