Robert T. Briggs, 51, of 53 Elm Street, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (January 6, 2010) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Hornell, July 8, 1958, he had resided on Crosby Creek Road and attended Alfred Almond Central School . Following school, he served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp. He had been employed as a foreman for DiMarzio Construction in North Carolina.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jeffery Briggs.
He is survived by two daughters: Jamie Lynn Briggs and Amber Star Briggs both of Hornell, four sons: Gary David Briggs , Robert Eugene Briggs , Austin Lee Briggs and Patrick Henry Briggs all of Hornell, his long time friend and companion, Pam Briggs of Hornell, his parents, Mildred Briggs of Hornell and Eugene (Janice) Briggs of Hornell, three brothers: Richard Briggs of Nunda, Jerald (Erin) Briggs and Scott(Jennifer) Briggs both of Hornell, step-sister, Crisandra (Gary) Plank of South Carolina, step-brother, Andrew (Diana) Ames of Hornell, step-children, Paula Updyke of Hornell, Chad (Ana) Updyke of Horseheads, Stefanie Updyke of Corning, Shannen (Scott) Vanhoven of Rexville, Amber Updyke of Hornell and Dakota Vanhoven of Hornell, 4 grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 4PM until 7 PM at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell where funeral services will follow calling hours at 7 PM. Charles Robards will officiate.
