Robert (Bob) H. Allen Jr, 81 formerly of Canisteo, NY, lately from Lockport, NY went to be with his Lord and beloved wife on August 8, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Bob graduated from Canisteo Central School in 1963. He enlisted in the United States Navy after graduation. After completing his training, he was assigned to Mobile Construction Battalion 2 (MCB2) and journeyed to the many places the Navy needed him. He was stationed aboard the USS Boston. He was honorably discharged in June 1965. Bob married the love of his life, Nanette Stewart, in 1966. He worked construction, for Canisteo Appliance, and Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation, Wackenhut Security and several other jobs until his retirement. He was the Scoutmaster of Troop 14 in Canisteo, a member of the Canisteo American Legion Post 846, holding many positions at various levels in the Legion, a member of La Société des 40Hommes et 8 Che Vaux 95, Hornell Amvets Post 245, the American War Dad’s, and the Lockport Navy Marine Ship 110. Bob was a VAVS volunteer and DAV driver for the Bath VA for many years. Bob was a member of the Southern Tier Bluegrass Association and the bluegrass band Timberline. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, music, sports and spending time with friends and family. Bob was an avid Boston Red Sox, Buffalo Sabres and New England Patriots fan. In recent years, Bob learned to be a Buffalo Bills fan. In his heart, he was always a New England Patriots fan. Bob always had a story, a joke and a smile. He was very proud of his grandsons and their accomplishments.
Predeceased by his parents Robert H. Allen Sr, and Elizabeth (Benjamin) Allen, beloved wife Nanette J. (Stewart) Allen, and several brothers and sisters in law, aunts, uncles and cousins. Survived by daughter Kimberly (Kevin) Seekins, grandsons Steven Seekins and Bryan Seekins, and many brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services to be held Saturday August 17, 2024, 1pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo, NY presided by Reverand W. James Hardy, also with Military Honors.
Funeral arrangements are with the Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Canisteo, with director Chester A. Gosper IV assisting the family.
