Ricky L. Matthews, 54, of 5137 Purdy Creek Road, passed away Sunday (May 13, 2012) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Gouverneur, June 18, 1957, the son of Carlos and Gladys Day Matthews, he had resided in Hartsville since 2006. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen Reyes Matthews of Hartsville, daughters, Wendy Lavancha and Michelle Matthews of Watertown, Cynthia Reyes of Hornell, sons, Bryan Burr of Fla., and Jason Matthews of Watertown, one sister Nancy of Rochester, 7 grandchildren.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo on Thursday from 1 PM until 2 PM at which time a funeral services will be held. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.
