Richard C. “Richie” Spangler

Richard C. “Richie” Spangler, 85, a resident of County Route 66, passed away Monday (Jan. 6, 2025) at his home.
Born in Angelica, June 2, 1939, he was the son of William and Ida Hayden Spangler. He was a graduate of Angelica Central School and proudly served his country as a member of the of the United States Army from 1963-1965.
He worked in the Vineyards in Forestville for several years, and locally as a self employed carpenter. He moved to Hornell in 1992. He and his wife Shirley operated car washes in Hornell and Nunda until 2015. They attended the Living Waters Church in Hornell.
He was predeceased by his parents, Step-sisters, Frances Guinnip and Jody Feldbauer, Sister, Mary Larson and Brother, Albert Spangler.
Surviving is his wife, Shirley Spangler to whom he was married 32 years, and one brother Raymond Spangler of Tennessee.
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Living Waters Church in Hornell on Thursday (Jan. 16, 2025) at 10:30 AM. Pastor Eric Bruening will officiate.
