Richard C. Ordway, 98, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 7, 2014 at home in Hornell with loving family members. He was the beloved husband of Jennie M. Ordway to whom he was married to for 70 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by

his daughter, Cynthia Ordway (Tom); and two sons, Kenneth (Bonnie) and Mark (Terri); six grandchildren, Colleen, James, Jason, Kelly, Tony, Joshua; seven great grandchildren, Tanyon, Porter, Matthew, Kenneth, Emma, Anna, and Andrew; one sister Rosie Drumm.

Born in Greenwood, NY in 1916 he was an Army Sergeant in World War II and was awarded (2) Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Richard worked for Loohn's Cleaners as a maintenance supervisor for 43 years. He rebuilt and restored his home of 66 years. Richard was an accomplished guitar player and loved playing with his brothers at the Ordway reunions and played with The John LaPiana Band. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening. Most of all, Richard enjoyed spending time with his family.

Family and friends can call at the Bender-Brown and Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell NY 14843 on Sat. Aug. 16, 2014 from 10am - 12Pm. A memorial service will follow at 12PM with Pastor Steven Dygert officiating. Burial will be at the Bath National Cemetery.
