Richard F. Kellogg Sr., 87, formerly of Ashbaugh Hill Road, passed away Friday (September 11, 2009) in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Born in Franklinville, March 23, 1922, the son of Frank L. and Marie Willis Kellogg, he had resided in Hornell most of his life, and was a graduate of Hornell High School .He had been employed as an engineer for the former Erie and Erie Lackawanna Railroad as well as Conrail prior to his retirement in 1981. Richard had served his country as a member of the United States Navy during WW-2. He had resided in Florida the past 15 years. He was a member and former secretary for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Union.
He was predeceased by his parents and his son, Lonnie Kellogg.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Devens Kellogg of Arkport, 3 daughters, Francine MacKitra of Hornell, Debbie Cartwright of Virginia, and Danelle Dibble of Arkport, 4 sons, Rick (Mary Ellen) Kellogg of Hornell, Leslie (Svitlana) Kellogg of Florida, Nick Kellogg of Navada, and Mike (Melinda) Kellogg of Byron, his sister, Jean Graham of Hornell, long time friend , Actovia "Buffy" Harris of Florida, 14 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.
The family will be present to receive friends from5PM-7PM Thursday at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will be held at the interment shelter at the Bath National Cemetery on Friday at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Bath National Cemetery.
