Richard J. Harrington. 91, passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 1, 2012. He was born November 28,1920, the son of Charles and Gertrude Hulett Harrington, and was a longtime resident of Bishopville.
Dick will be fondly remembered as a master craftsman who worked as a carpenter, foreman and superintendent at the former Hollands Construction Company in Hornell for 38 years, building many residential and commercial buildings throughout the Southern Tier. He retired at age 70 from the work he loved, to a long retirement filled with woodworking hobbies, antique tractor restoration and daily coffee with his friends and enjoying time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grand daughter. Dick served his country as a member of the United States Army during WW-2.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 66 years, Alice Harrington of Bishopville, his two daughters, Janice (Jim) Ryan of Avon, and Holly (Rod) Wampole of Canaseraga, five grandchildren; Steven and Kyle Ryan, Emily and Dustin (Deb Centore) Oliver and Caitlan Wampole; one great grand daughter, Lily Ryan; his sister, Virginia Westlake of VA., nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by five brothers and sisters, as well as his granddaughter, Barbara Ryan.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM Monday at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell where funeral services will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Terry Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Heritage Hill Cemetery, Arkport.
