Richard F. Cook, 93, of 16 Sussex Rd, passed away Tuesday (December 29, 2009) at UPMC Medical Group, Pittsburgh P.A.
Born in Canisteo, March 21, 1916, the son of Charles and Calla (Foster) Cook, he had resided in Hornell until moving to Rochester in 1983. Richard was a graduate of Arkport Central School and was employed for 35 Years as an Employment Officer for the NYS Department of Labor in Hornell. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII serving in the Philippines. Richard was a lifetime member of the Hornell American Legion Post #440 and the Hornell Moose Lodge.
He was predeceased by his parents as well as one brother, Charles A. Cook.
He is survived by his wife Catherine Cook whom he married in 1944, one daughter; Linda (Phil) Huffsmith of Rochester, two sons; Donald M. (Cathy) Cook of Pittsburgh PA and John R. (Ricki) Cook of Olney MD, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and 3 nieces.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10AM-11AM on Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
